Posted on February 21, 2020 at 5:23 PM by Gabriela Moore

Everyone knows the classic margarita; pour me up a glass of sweet and sour with a splash of tequila --or two-- throw in a little salt and lime, and call it a day. But what about all the other tempting flavors you can throw, squeeze, or splash into that glass of yours? We know you’re ready to explore the endless world of flavors that margaritas across Buda have to offer. So welcome to our top 5 guide* to margaritas with a twist: Buda’s Twisteritas.

Pinballz Margarita

Pinballz Kingdom - Patron Perfect Margarita w/ Strawberry flavor (on the rocks)

Price: $13.00, Happy Hour - $7.00

How it’s made: Patron Reposado Tequila, Patron Citronage Orange liqueur, orange juice, lime juice & sweet n’ sour

Available Flavors: Strawberry, Peach, Mango, Habanero Lime, Blueberry

Wait. Did you say Patron for $7.00?? Yes! Pinballz has Happy Hour all day on Mondays and you, lucky ducky, can get this perfect margarita for ½ off. I don't know about you, but when I think of strawberry flavor, I imagine an overly sweet syrup ruining my perfectly balanced margarita. This? It’s not that. Served tall with slices of fresh orange and lime on a salted rim; a hint of fruity aroma prepares your palate for a touch of strawberry sweetness that hits first and then finishes strong with sour smooth tequila and citrus. Seriously, an experience from heaven.

Total Score: 61

Jalisco's Margarita Jalisco’s - Mango Chamoy Margarita (frozen)

Price: $7.99

How it’s made: Frozen mango margarita with chamoy and a spiced rim

Any native central Texan knows the deliciousness that is mango and chamoy. Mix it with tequila and you’ve got yourself a fan favorite. Jalisco’s Mango Chamoy Margarita is served up in a traditional wide-rimmed glass coupled with tajin and lime. It has a candy-like sweetness reminiscent of hot summer days scooping up a mangonada from the local fruteria. That extra hint of sour spice from the chamoy with tajin has our current selves thankful for those years of preparation eating chili covered candy.

Total Score: 57

Brooklyns Margarita

Brooklyn’s Down South - Grapefruit Habanero Margarita (on the rocks)

Price: $10.00 & $6.00 on Marg Monday

How it’s made: El Jimador Reposado tequila, Patron Citronage, habanero infused simple syrup, ruby red grapefruit, lime juice & spiced rim.

If you don’t find a drink with habanero in it, turn around because you probably aren’t in Texas. Don’t let the habanero scare you away, though. This unique infusion of citrus, sweet and spice  goes down smooth with just a small bite at the end. Add a lime and tajin on the rim and you found the taste of Texas in a glass.

Total Score: 57

Ester's Margarita

Esther's Tex-Mex - Big Red Margarita (frozen)

Price: $5.95 & $3.99 on Marg Monday

How it’s made: Frozen margarita with a splash of Big Red

We already know you love margaritas -- because let's be real, you’re reading this blog and who doesn’t? And if you’re from the south, you love Big Red just us much. (Yes, we are judging you if you disagree.) So...why not combine the two? The sweet flavor from the Big Red echos the typical strawberry margarita, but with an unexpected taste that only Big Red can offer.  Served in a wine glass accompanied by the usual salted rim and lime slice, these two Texas favorites make for the perfect twisterita.

Total Score: 54

Willie's Joint Margarita

Willie’s Joint - Fowlerita (on the rocks)

Price: $8.00

How it’s made: Juarez Gold tequila, triple sec, sweet and sour, simple syrup, orange juice and ½ a Budlight

Walk into Willie’s and you’ll find across the walls evidence of all the people who have been there to make their mark. Take a classic house margarita in one hand and a ½ Budlight in the other and you have yourself a Fowlerita, the go to drink of the Texas country artist, Kevin Fowler, often seen frequenting Willie’s Joint. The extra large salt on the rim and lime flavor lingers in your mouth as you sip from one drink to the other, putting a welcomed spin on “I’ll take it dressed.”

5. Super Slick’s – The Slick

Price: $5.95
