The State of Texas Legislature dubbed Buda as the “Outdoor Capital of Texas,” because we have more parkland per capita than any other city in Texas, 29.6 miles per capita to be exact. The City of Buda is dedicated to quality of life for our residents and to providing a scenic destination for our visitors.
We have miles of hike and bike trails throughout the City, water sources for fishing and many acres of untouched land; perfect for those whose hobbies includes hiking boots, a bike, a fishing pole or even a camera.

Cabela’s World’s Foremost Outfitters
This store sells 185,000 sq. ft. of merchandise for every type of outdoorsman. Find gear for hunting, shooting, fishing, boating, camping, auto & ATV. There is also clothing, footwear, house wear and more!
Visitors can find a showroom filled with firearms from throughout history, museum-quality animal displays in realistic re-creations of their habitats, aquariums with live fish and an archery range. With that much to do, you are sure to get hungry; fill up at their restaurant where you can eat buffalo, bison, elk or your traditional burger. Don’t forget to grab their famous fudge before you go.

Weiner Dog Races
Buda is most famous for the annual Buda Country Fair and Wiener Dog Races that take place the last weekend in April. Come witness the adorable hilarity from both the wiener dogs and their owners as they race as fast as their stubby legs will take them to be crowned the champion. Enjoy the festivities that celebrate Buda’s most coveted breed of dog with a bar-b-que cook-off, live music, best dressed dog contest, washer tournament, bake-off, vendor booths and more.

Racing
Start your engines in Buda. Race fans attending events at Circuit of the Americas in Austin need to consider Buda for their lodging destination. Buda hotels are 15 minutes from the track and are a more affordable option. For FORMULA ONE, Buda offers transportation from your hotel to the track and back and to other Buda destinations.

Jackson Tyler Norris Memorial Skate Park
Buda opened its skate park in December 2013 and is a true community treasure. The park was named after Jackson Tyler Norris, an avid skate who died at the age of 15 in 2011. Jackson saved seven lives with his organ donation, including his heart, which memorialized in the concrete. He also helped countless others with his blood and tissue donation.
Skaters of all skill levels can enjoy a challenge at this park with a half pipe, ramps, bank gaps, stairs with rails and grind benches, rails and ledges.

Downtown Buda
Downtown Buda is a short six blocks of preserved history packed with shopping, dining and evening entertainment. Interested in antiques? We got it. Looking to flaunt trendy and unique fashion clothing and accessories? What have that too! Downtown Buda has anything from home décor to local food to sweet treats and more. It has a unique retail mix that visitors will love and want to visit again and again. Downtown Buda also hosts First Thursday, a monthly event where downtown businesses are Alive After Five and offering deals to those shopping. Whether it is getting donuts in the morning or having drinks a night, there is always something to do.

The McElroy – Severn Stagecoach House and Historic Stagecoach Park
The Stagecoach House is located in Historic Stagecoach Park on Main Street and is a national and state historic landmark. In the late 1800s and early 1900s it served as a stagecoach stop for those traveling from Austin to San Antonio. Located just behind the house is the Onion Creek Post Office which brought many United States Postal Service mail carriers and visitors.
The park is filled with natural beauty that can be seen on nearly two miles of hike and bike trails throughout the park.

Historic homes, buildings and structures
Buda is home to a number of historic homes, buildings and structures. Out historic downtown features a number of buildings that have been here more than a century. Most notable is our 1898 Building, a truly unique antique store with a functioning hundred-year-old elevator inside.
There is also the McElroy-Severn Stagecoach House and Onion Creek Post Office in Historic Stagecoach Park. In the late 1800s and early 1900s mail was delivered to the post office and the house served as a stagecoach stop. Bother are national and state historic landmarks. The Carrington House, formerly known as the Carrington Hotel, is the site where local lore claims that Buda got its name from two widows that worked in the kitchen. Clint’s Cabin, which is now located in Historic Stagecoach Park, was a servants quarters for the Carrington Hotel. There are also a number of historic homes located around the Main Street area such as the Porter-Gordon House.
