Water ConservationThe City of Buda is currently under Stage 1 Drought RestrictionsWater is a precious resource in Buda. Throughout our region, it provides tourism, recreation, habitat for endangered species, and drinking water for a rapidly growing population. Unfortunately, it is also a limited resource, especially during times of drought, which are common in central Texas. As our city continues to grow, our water supplies continue to be stretched. Wise use of our water resource is critical to the economic health and vitality of our city—a key resource in maintaining and enhancing Buda’s quality of life. It is necessary for each of use to do our part to conserve water, and by doing so ensure adequate water supplies both now and in the future. To that end, on January 3, 2012, the City of Buda adopted revised water conservation rules, further described in Article 24.06 of the Code of Ordinances. Key aspects of these rules are summarized in this flyer. Through this ordinance, the City has established year-round restrictions as well as restrictions for each of the four drought stages to improve the effectiveness of the program, recognize the unique needs of each of the City’s water sources as well as the City’s expanding water supply, and respond to citizen concerns. Additional information, restrictions and penalties are contained in Article 24.06 of the Code of Ordinances.
